| Lyrics
written 10 years ago on the Cambodian situation.
Music added 2003 because
of the ongoing plight of refugees in Australia and around the world
This is really 3 parts,
as the soprano and tenor are octaved throughout.
-----------------------------
One day you will see
you can't take anything from me.
Don't take anything from me,
there's nothing to give but my life, 'nd you can't have that, it's mine,
mine, mine.
One day when I wake, this hunger will be gone.
One day you will see,
as you shoot to kill, that this time it was someone like your own child,
like your own father,
like your own mother.
One day you will see,
all the hatred you achieve is a lessening of yourself, opportunities slipping
away,
like planets with pollution.
I had a family once, so they tell
me.
I find it hard to remember anything from back then.
One day you will see
you can't take anything from me,
there's nothing to give.
One day when I wake, this hunger will be gone.
