ASYLUM

This piece was written as a response to emails received from an Afghan women's organisation, living in refugee camps in Pakistan, which detailed their lives under the Taliban. Grant them Asylum!

It is based on a mode common to eastern European musics, which is structured as playing a harmonic minor scale from its fifth note.

In this piece, the fundamental note steps down a tone at the beginning of each stanza, inspired by the way the Tibetan monks keep chanting lower and lower. The predominant rhythm is a 7 (2+2+3).

The score includes rehearsal and analytical notes.

It will be found on Gregarious Chance's album, "Social Animals", due for release mid 2008(see Discography)
